Opononi sandboarding Bay of islands camp 2023 WPS

During week 4 of term 4 the year 5’s and 6’s went on a school camp for five days in the bay of islands. Wednesday was my favourite day because Monday and Tuesday were really wet. But Wednesday was dry like a Summers day is supposed to be.

The day started when we woke up, had breakfast, packed our lunch and gear, and got on the bus or van. Me and my day group which was Pink were in the black van. It was like an hour and a half drive but I made it,

partly because I had Harlem to talk to, he’s a really nice guy. Once we arrived at Opononi we changed into our togs and the Manea experience building. Blue A and Pink (my group) walked down to the wharf, we then boarded a boat which took us across the Hokiangna harbour to the sand dunes. Once we arrived we grabbed a board and stepped down the bow ladder, yes the bow turned into a ladder! We then had one or two hours of fun sandboarding. The first time you do it your really scared because you can’t see the bottom, but it’s just a slope. And once you’ve done it once, it’s really fun! So once we were done we waited for the boat to arrive and it did with some other groups. But… while we were sandboarding the tide slowly rose, they didn’t take offf their shoes so they had to jump. But we were fine because we were barefoot. We hopped on the boat and went back to Manea, we got changed, had a play in the lawn and then we did the experience.

Sandboarding was the funnest thing we did at the Waikohai bay of islands camp 2023. I absolutely loved it.

Email etiquette

This week we learned about email etiquette.

Etiquette is just how you do something.

So in this case email etiquette is just how you write a proper email to your teacher.

This is the difference from a text to your friend and an email to your teacher.

This is how you make an email to your teacher

How to stay safe online

How to stay safe online

Hello in this blog post I will teach you how to stay cyber safe at school but you can also apply this to your home life.

  •    Don’t put anyone but yourself in a post unless you have permission.
  •   Don’t respond to a comment or email that isn’t helpful or thoughtful.
  •  Do not click on any weird links.
  •   Tell your trusted adults.
  • Block people who send mean comments or emails.

If you put people in your post that you don’t have permission to put in there people may be known for something they don’t want to be known for, if you respond to a comment or email that isn’t helpful or thoughtful those people will know they’ve got someone. Do not click on weird links you will possibly get scammed or get a virus on your device. If you tell your trusted adults as soon as something bad happens they will be able to do something about it, whereas if you wait to tell your parents they won’t be able to do anything about it. Finally if you block people who send mean emails or comments they won’t be able to send them to you anymore and they can’t cause any more damage.

Week 10 showcase

Yesterday was the week 10 Te Waka Ako showcase. We had worked for 3 weeks to do this. I arrived to set up the animation I made. Then I let my mum take a look at everything I did. Then we looked at some of the other kids work. Then we waited to go into The booth and I interviewed her. We have an all blacks player across the road. After that we went to the staff room to get some food. That sausage was so good. I think everyone in Manukau agreesthe food was good.

Then I had an ice cream on a stick and some of the ice cream fell on me! I managed to clean it up.

After that I let my mum read my book. The cookie jar. She said that it was great. So we said goodbye to Ms Kneller and left.

Today we quickly fixed up everything while the juniors and middles came in. I read some of my book to them. People looked at my animation. It was okay.

Waikowhai war 1

Thursday.Two weeks ago.

When I arrived from home that day I was not expecting this.I took a look at the window where there was a notice. It read. “War has been declared.Report to Manukau at 9 o-clock.”

So once 9 o-clock came and we were all ordered to line up and march into Manukau. This is when I started to think.”This is not at all what I expected when Ms Kneller said a supersize”.

So we started to learn and it was all about ANZAC day to feel how the solders in the trenches felt but I won’t bore you with the details. It was really hard.I’ll put it that way.It was really hard to focus, hard to breath and really hot! So eventually Morning tea came and I was free to stand up.

In fact playtime was one of the only times I got to stand up. After morning tea everything started to calm down. Then lunch came and all of a sudden it was the end block. Yipe! So at the end of the block we sat on the mat for a bit.Got our stuff and sat on the court.

Then the bell rang and I was realived to go home.

That was my day in the Under the wires expirience.

It wasnt that good or bad.It was really hard.It was hard to adapt to those changes. It wasnt normal at all.Overall Id give it a 4 out of 10.
